A Converted Leeds Townhouse for Candlelit Suppers and Quiet Evenings

Booked a room for a weekend away and ended up staying an extra night. The restaurant downstairs does a lamb dish that's worth the trip alone, and the card room after dinner was a nice surprise nobody mentioned to us beforehand.

The townhouse conversion is done properly, not the usual generic hotel refit. Original fireplaces still in the rooms, creaky floorboards and all. Dinner service was slow one night but the staff apologised and comped our wine, so no complaints.

Six of us went for a friend's birthday, had the private card room booked for after our meal. Dealers were relaxed and easy to chat with, nothing stiff about it. The candlelit dining room beforehand set the whole tone nicely.

Stayed three nights while my flat was being renovated. The suite was quiet, bed was properly comfortable, and breakfast in the dining room each morning was better than most hotels I've paid double for.

We came up from Manchester for a food-focused weekend. The tasting menu changes seasonally and it showed - proper attention to the ingredients. Popped into the members lounge afterward just to see it, glad we did.

Booked the Garden Suite for our fifth anniversary. Small details stood out, fresh flowers, a note from the front desk, nothing over the top. Dinner in the candlelit room downstairs made the whole evening feel unhurried.
